Plan B: Ted X Lecture

2/3) In this lecture plan b speaks his beliefs on young people and how politics and the media show them no love. He tells us that young people ignore authority and they listen more to the rappers then the people that give authority. Therefore he used his poetry to address his points but he used swearing and other rap techniques in order for the youth to listen and be entertained. The reason why he cares a lot is because he has come from a school motivates kids and told them they are valued, therefore he believes that it takes one person to change someone life. His first record did that as he tried to be a father figure to these troubled kids.(Who Needs Actions When You Have Words). His new project Ill Manors targeted poor schools to focus on kids that live in this broken world to act in the movie. He believes that CHAV means Council House And Violence. From this he believes that if newspapers can use the word chav (which is a discrimination) but they don't use any other word to categorise a group of people, he believes that media are demonising youth. The media use chav to target the un educated kids. He believes that the riots took place because it was the summer holidays and these kids cant afford holidays to go abroad and most youth centres were closed down. They rioted because they don't feel apart of society and they look up to the media and they are being hated even more.

4) The target audience for this lecture is aimed for the ABC1 for the core audience but this audience may be the secondary audience for the film. These people are also reformers.

5) Plan B also explains how he was about to get mugged while filming but a group of street youth came to help him out, he explained this to the media but the media rejected the fact he was saved and only published that he was being attacked by the youth. This links to Cohen theory about how the youth are exaggerated and demonised and are stereotyped. The media doesn't use words to discriminate racial groups or ethnicities but its okay to call un educated troubled kids chavs?
