ll Manors Making Of The Film: (DVD Extras)

In the DVD extras for the film there was a extra for the making of the film, it focused on interviews with the actors, producers and Ben Drew himself. From this extra, Ben Drew addresses his intentions in order to make this film knock the audiences head around and he wants them to feel something. He wants the audience to know that the youth are not what they think and they are actually distressed young individuals that feel like they are not loved due to the media. He wants people to know they are misunderstood and he wants to help the youth. He has done this by going back to these distressed streets to use kids from these areas to act to give a sense of realism and to help them out.

In terms of production process he has been wanting to make his own film for a very long time, he explains how he has had very basic experience by making short films with "Ed" from Ill Manors and that he used his music as an advantage to his directing. The first rap / short video he made with his actor actually managed to air on channel 4, When making ill manors, he did face many problems, during the time of being able to make the film in 2009 there was a serious credit crunch which made the producers not want to pay for it and back down, although the crew, Ben and actors were still determined to make this film, and they did so. This meant that they may had to use their own costume and props. Also, Ben Drew went back to his area to find this distressed youth in order to give them a chance in the industry and to make a change. Ben Drew also wanted to shoot the film in forest gate, east London which is where he wrote the film. When shooting in this area the crew had to use a small crew to be obviousness to the thugs as they did bring trouble.

His target audience was aimed a lot at the troubled youth, in order to bring realism in the film he travelled to the estate areas in east London, he used actors that are already used to these situations other then using actors that have to fake themselves in. He used many of the kids from these areas and gave them chances to move up in the industry. Although he does say that this film should aim the people that judge the rioters from media on the TV and he aims to make them think that these troubled youth are in distress and that they have reasons for taking place in the riots.

Overall the directors, producers, crew and actors did find the film a success it was absolute and clear to Ben Drews story. He was able to express all his beliefs and had his believers with him which managed to help him drive forward. He showed that these rioters and troubled youth are an example of nothing is black and white, nothing is pure evil. He showed that these types of characters do exist and no one shows them love.
